Teachers and Students are Citizens
Citizens make informed choices and are aware of the impact of their choices on others (locally and globally). Citizens care about both the common good and the unique needs of individuals. Teachers and students recognize and respect each other as citizens of the classroom, school, community, nation and Earth.
Classroom Management Routines
One of the largest learning curves for me in the classroom this year was management. I quickly came to the realization that every week, every day, and every hour are different in terms of student behavior. Understanding this gave me the necessary mindset that I must vary my classroom management for every individual case in each class. Each student is different; so, all management needs to be unique. Perfecting this management is not easy; and what I hope to achieve is a balance of resect within the classroom, based upon my philosophy of education. I have made great progress in my classroom management since the beginning of the year, through the help of my mentor teacher, team teachers, classes at Michigan State University, and various professional development sessions that I have attended.
Classroom management is a constant work in progress, and achieving this balance with take some time. There is quite a bit of work to be done that will make this process easier for me. As I develop this balance, I will, and have already noticed that teaching and learning become more productive. I will continue to work on the techniques I have learned, but I will also continue to learn more as I work with fellow teachers in the future.

Case Study Project
Fact of the matter is, some students struggle in school. Through an eight weeklong case study, I closely followed the behavior and learning of a student that I found to be on the borderline of succeeding and failing. As a citizen, I care about the common good and unique needs of my students. It was my hope that I could truly understand who Chloe was to assist her is bettering her behavior and improving her work and participation in class. In the end, I desired to see Chloe as a citizen who makes informed choices and is aware of the impact of their choices on others.
From day one to the final day of observation, I witnessed growth and setbacks in the behavior and academic performance of Chloe. Ultimately, however, I was pleased to see overall growth by the end of the case study. By utilizing the prior experiences, knowledge, talents, and values of Chloe, I developed and implemented strategies of seat changes and differentiated instruction that helped her to succeed in class in both her behavior and her academics.

Marking Period 3 - Grades, Citizenship, and Comments
My Personal Growth as an Educator
To be a teacher is to be a citizen and understand the impact of your choices on others. Over the course of this academic year, I have tracked my professional growth in the classroom and out. While I utilized my own interpretation of my teaching, I also looked to the evaluation of others, including my mentor teacher, field instructor, students, other teachers in the building, and administrators. By acquiring a diversity of interpretation on my teaching, I was able to evaluate my professional growth from many different angles and in terms of many different teaching aspects, including classroom management, instruction, lesson development, and more.
The evaluation of my growth of a teacher is something that will continue for the rest of my career. In order to become the best teacher I can be, I will continue to use a variety of interpretations as I look for growth and areas in which I struggle. As a new teacher, I was happy to have seen significant growth in myself as a citizen in and out of the classroom. I will work tirelessly to ensure that this growth does nothing but continue so that the unique needs of individuals in the school community are met.
